A SAFER INDIA: KIRAN BEDI'S NEXT MISSION
People can log on to www.saferindia.com and e-mail their complaint to the group, which would be forwarded to respective state police headquarters, Bedi told reporters here. "Approach us through e-mail, if you have visited the police station or police post to register your complaint and if it remains unattended or not acknowledged," she said.
The Safer India will help people in 16 states. "Once we get a complaint, we will scrutinize it and forward it to state police headquarters. We won't recommend any action in any case but it is up to police to decide what action should follow," she said. However, she said, the group wants people to first visit the police station and try to register their complaint. "This mission is to strengthen police services to provide a safer India and not an alternative to police responsibilities," she said.
She said this would be a turning point in police reforms. Bedi's
application for voluntary retirement was accepted on December 24 and
she had said that she would work to ensure reformation in police
forces. (PTI)
