TWO TRAINING SCHOOLS
INAUGURATED AT CHINCHWAD
JANUARY
5, 2008: On
January 3, at 6.00 pm, Bishop Valerian D’Souza, Bishop of Pune, and
Rev. Fr. Ivo Coelho, Provincial, blessed and inaugurated the “Don
Bosco Mahindra & Mahindra Bora Auto 4 Wheeler Training School” and
the “Fr. Santino Mondini Fabrication and Welding Training School”.
Gracing the occasion with their presence were Bishop Lourdes Daniel,
Rev. Fr. Michael Fernades, a large number of Salesians, Diocesan
Priests, Religious, well wishers, industrial partners, and the staff
and students of the institute. These two Schools are the first in a
series of training schools presently under development at the Don
Bosco Training Centre, Chinchwad.
Speaking
during the programme Fr. Ivo Coelho thanked Bishop Valerian for his
graciousness in donating this land to the Salesians and his constant
encouragement during the past years. In his speech, Bishops Valerian
expressed his gratitude to the Salesians for the state of the art
training centre being developed by them for the poor youth of the
Pune diocese. He said that although the project had faced some delay
in getting off the ground, he was now pleased with the rapid strides
it was taking. He complemented Fr. Corlis Gonsalves, the Director of
the Centre, because of whom much of the progress had become
possible.
Proposing
the vote of thanks, Fr. Corlis Gonsalves thanked Bishop Valerian
D’Souza, Bishop Lourdes Daniel, Fr. Ivo Coelho and the other guests
for their unstinted support and encouragement towards the
institution. He singled out the pioneers of the institute – Br.
Wankhade Damodar, Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, Fr. Wyman Gonsalves and Fr.
Lester Fernandes – and thanked them for having sowed the seeds for
this venture. He also congratulated the architect Mr. Bharat Dalal
and the contractor Mr. Shekar Delvis of Sekos Construction, for
their excellent service.
During the course of the
dinner that followed the inauguration, a PowerPoint Programme,
entitled “The Power of the Dream”, which showcased the activities of
the institute was presented. Clearly, it is this “power of the
dream” that spurs Chinchwad on new beginnings and greater heights! (BIS
